“Speak low if you speak love.” This is a quote from the play “Much Ado About Nothing” written by William Shakespeare in 1598 and 1599. On the Jan. 20, some high school students from Imagine Prep went to see the play at the Mesa Arts Center. There were two classes, Mr. Benjamin Andree’s film class and Ms. Michelle Meunier’s journalism class.

Staff writer Autumn Froitland Alexander Hamilton is an important figure in American History, and now the Founding Father has a rap style musical written about the life he led and the impact he left on America. The world-wide known “Hamilton: An American Musical” has been the topic of many ongoing conversations for the past year and a half. Writer of the musical, Lin Manuel Miranda, who also plays Alexander Hamilton in the show, spent almost eight years working on the script and score. The Broadway show was based off of the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, that, at the time, a young Miranda happened to pick up off the bookshelf. It takes you through Hamilton’s life and all the people he meets along the way. With a total of 46 rap style songs, the Hamilton soundtrack takes you through the before and after of the Revolutionary War. Even though the story mainly revolves around Hamilton, the narrator of the show is historical figure Aaron Burr, who we find out at the end of the show, is responsible for Hamilton's death. Now, most American citizens know of the show and have listened to the music, including the students of Imagine Prep. Some students even use the rap soundtrack as a guide to study for American History. Staff writer Cayla Vaughan
Fans of “Divergent” have said, the Divergent movie was amazing. But did the movie stick to the story and the characters Veronica Roth originally wrote? Over the past several years, young adult novels have gained some attention. One of those young adult novels is “Divergent” and the Divergent Series. The Divergent series takes place in a futuristic dystopian Chicago. In this society, people are split up into five Factions. Abnegation, which values selflessness. Dauntless, which values bravery. Candor, which values honesty. Erudite, which values knowledge. And Amity, which values peace. |
